//well that one was my bad... Didn't register with me that we'd left.. I made it in Faxview ill delete it and write another//

"So Riut, might as well get to know you better since we'll be fighting together." Arthur says to Riut as he learns on the railing of the ship.

"Well I was born into a very powerful family, my father was the king's right hand man. I always liked the king, he seemed like a good person to me. As I got older I was admitted to become a guard at the palace. That same year my father died. It was so sudden, everyone who was near him said it was some sort of disease. Later, I was informed by a official that I was hanging for treason to the crown that my father was assassinated by the king."

"Wait,and you trusted him?" Arthur said with a surprised look on his face.

"Slightly, I found out from the king's tax collector, who I was escorting to the prison that everyone that worked with my dad was payed off to keep a rebellion he started a secret. I of course was enraged. I made my first kill that night. I was on watch by the King's quarters. I slipped in and slit his throat, leaving feeling very satisfied, hell bent on finding the man that actually did the killing of my father."

//he was the leader of my home nationality before I became an assassin. Ill explain more in my continuation//

"I wasn't found out by the guards which was lucky for me. Kinthid was on high alert through the next month looking for a new ruler. The Prince of the south took the position after many minor 'skirmishes', if you could call very aggressive word battles that, with a majority of the aristocrats agreeing to his reign."

"Riut, how old were you when this happened? Also, how did you kill him without being detected by the other guards? I just find parts of this... shocking to say the least." Arthur asked Riut puzzled by the tale he had just told Arthur. Riut wasn't lying or exaggerating even the slightest. This was something not even the assassins with him knew. Riut knew that this was sensitive material that could be used against him but, he knew no one would believe such an outlandish tale, so he continued.

"I actually just slipped into another uniform, hid the one I killed the king in and burn't it when the chance arose. By the time Prince Fredrick was instated as king I was 17. I have been doing contracts up to now, earning money to feed myself and keep my now nonexistent weapons armor and house in shape. I've killed many people under contracts," Riut said to Arthur as the sun dove below the waves, "I learned all the skills I know today from trial and error. Almost died a few times but, managed to kill most of my targets. The big one was Gregory Teskin, who was a very wealthy aristocrat for Fredrick. He pissed a lot of people off with his serfdom of the people on his land and the bribes he gave to the police to not tell the King about the serfdom. I still believe Gregory and Fredrick were both in on the profits of the poor people." Riut, scoffed at the memory of the bastard.

"So I'm guessing you killed him successfully seeing your presence here right now."

"You could say that" Riut said. Arthur handed Riut a cup of what looked like whiskey. He accepted it from Arthur.

"To Marcus." Arthur said boldly. Riut raised his cup and drank a long gulp of the liquid. He dropped the cup. "It's not that strong!" Arthur said jokingly as he took a sip.

"No, it's not the whiskey. Look," Riut said as he pointed at a fishing boat in the rocking back and forth in the soft currents. "There's rips in the sails."

"So? They may have torn a seem. Bad weather is known to be violent in this area." Arthur responded.

"That boat's not wet. Don't you see the shine on the mast? That's blood."

"Arm yourelves! We're going aboard!" Arthur ordered and turned the Ved Dovah to the fishing boat. When they pulled to the side of the ship, Arthur had the men secure the ship with grappling hooks, and he went aboard himself leading Riut, 2 assassins, and 4 of his men.

"Anyone alive in here?!" Riut yelled. Silence greeted them at first, then Arthur spotted a boy move away from view after looking.

"Sheath your swords lads. Boy, come out to us! We won't hurt you lad, just come out!" Arthur said, but the boy stayed. He tossed his weapons on the Ved Dovah, all except a dirk, then went to where the boy was. He moved to the last location of the boy, and the boy was gone. Arthur sighed, saying his eyes were playing tricks on him, until he was ambushed by the boy who stabbed him in the back.

His armor protected him though, and blocked the dagger like steel would. Arthur whipped around and caught the boy's arm, disarming him. "Let go of me! Leave me alone bastard!"

Arthur pinned the boy's hands to his sides, easily overpowering the boy. "I don't want to hurt you lad, I just want to know what happened here. RIUT! Food and water now!"

"On it!" Riut yelled, and jumped off the ship to the main hold. He came back after a minute with bread, cheese, and water.

"I'm going to let you go now, little one. I'll be able to catch you if you run, so don't waste our time with that, okay? You need to eat, you're thin," Arthur said, and gently let the boy go.

He stayed where he was, and accepted the food from Riut. "What happened here young boy?" Riut asked, gentler than Arthur.

"Men came, killed my family and the rest of the crew. Father told me to hide in the smuggler's hold, and they never found me," The boy said, then started to tear up, "I heard them screaming..."

Arthur was more sympathetic to the boy now, and had a much gentler tone, one unfitting for a Frostman. "Lad, it's okay. We're not those men, we want to help you."

"I have nowhere else to go..."

"You can sail with us lad," Arthur said, "We'll protect you."

They brought the boy back to the Ved Dovah, then scuttled the ship. It was unsailable, and was slowly sinking as is. The boy watched the ship go down and cried. Arthur was next to him until the bubbles from the ship ceased to rise. "Come lad, I'll protect you."


//Can I have Arthur "adopt the boy? It'll show that he has a rather tender side toward children. Oh, and I'll put his name down as Kaidan in my next post, or you can put it down Stars.//

//Woah Ibsenia, everyone in the mercenary group is on the ship, and we only pulled up next to a boat for a few minutes.//

The boy isolated himself from the other men. Riut was slightly concerned that they were scaring him, the mercenaries especially. Riut stoked his stubble of a beard. Thinking what they could do to get him to trust them, if they fell into combat he may not follow if he didn't trust him. "Arthur can you think of anything we could do for the boy?"

"Not much to do on a warship full of mercenaries and assassins. We could see if he wanted to learn to defend himself."

"Ei that we could Arthur, he's obviously pretty good with a knife." Riut said jokingly pointing at Arthur's bruised shoulder. "He got you pretty good."

"Oh shut up, he jumped me." Arthur responded.

"Come let's see what we can do." They walked over to the boy, who was sitting on a barrel. "Hello," Riut said to the boy. "Would you like to join us in a moch battle?" Riut asked the kid in a kind enthusiastic voice. They waited a bit for him to answer. After a couple minutes they asked again. Once again the boy didn't answer. 'Hmmm', Riut thought, 'Maybe this will work'
"Would you rather join me in climbing to the top of the mast? We're goin to be aproching a port soon." The boy looked looked at Riut.

"It'll be very pretty and the breeze feels very nice. What do you say?" Arthur extended his hand in a gesture of good faith. He took it and he, Riut, and Arthur started climbing the netting attached to the mast. Riut wanted to perch himself on the cross section of the mast but, the wind was blowing to hard for him to keep a safe balance. It was his favorite place to sit and think. They made it to the top. While Arthur made sure the boy didn't fall, Riut climbed across the mast making sure the ties were tight.

"The men that attacked me had others aboard their ship." Riut instantly perked up, over hearing the boy. "They were in chains and many of them looked like soldiers."

This stopped Arthur. He had a feeling that ship attacked them, but to have them here.... It meant he was close.

"How long ago were you attacked lad?" Arthur said, in his harsh Frostman tone at first, then in a gentle voice, "Some friends of ours were on that ship, we're trying to get them back home."

The boy sniffed, holding back tears, "It looked big, really big. There was one man who stood out, he had shorter hair than all the rest."

Riut and Arthur looked at each other and said at the same time, "Marcus."

"He was more stubborn to them than the rest of the chained men, but whenever someone was hit, he would go to them to make sure they were alright," The boy continued, "They beat him to hell though."

Arthur took a deep breath to keep his anger down, and gently said, "Is there anything else you can tell us about these men? The bad guys?"

"There were so many, and they were armed to the teeth. I don't know how to count though, but there were definitely more than on my father's boat," the boy said.

By now, they reached the crow's nest on the ship. Arthur looked to the horizon, trying to get answers from the Sea God. There was no answer.

They made their way down to the deck of the ship, and the boy followed them to the aft. "I'm sorry your friend is on the ship."

Arthur smiled and turned to the boy, then knelt down to him, "He's a good man, you'd like him. A lot more gentler than I am, being a Frostman. What's your name boy?"

"Kaidan."

"That was my brother's name," Arthur said, patting the boy on the shoulder, "He was a great warrior, and protected me to his death. You look kind of like him too, with your blonde hair."

This made the boy smile for the first time since he was on the ship. "I want to be a warrior too."

The helmsman spoke up this time, "No finer man to teach you than these two and Marcus, especially Marcus."

"Can you teach me?" Kaidan asked, looking at Arthur.

Arthur nodded and patted the boys shoulder, "Of course, when we've got time. We train every other day, so you and I can train together, with Riut too."

The boy was a natural, and the fact that he could lift the heavy practice swords impressed even Arthur. He and Riut gave the boy pointers on his sword play, and by the time they were done the boy's arms were sore. He didn't complain though, and Arthur grew to love the boy as his own son. The next day, he and Riut taught him how to steer the ship, but the boy was so small he couldn't see over the sides of the ship. They put him in a chair, and Arthur taught him the ways of helmsmanship. He knew much, being on a fishing vessel, but the fact that he was sailing a warship was exhilarating to him, and the whole day he was smiling.

When Riut and Arthur had time alone, they voiced their relief of the boy to each other.

Marcus was tired, and beaten. After being purchased, he had walked all the way east, until he arrived at Qcrya. Confused, he looked around at the tents. This was no place for a slave master to live. However, the line continued moving, and soon was walking south, into the Slab Desert. They arrived at a giant rock in the middle of the desert.

What? What is this?


They walked towards Qcrya, and then into a crag. Arriving underground, Marcus looked up in confusion. 

"Welcome to the TRUE city of Qcrya slaves, this is where you will be working!"

The Ven Dova pulled into Lyas when the sun was falling. Most of the mercenary crew went directly to the bar. Riut chuckled to himself as he watched them go, laughing and telling jokes to each other as they went. Riut stayed with the boy, as he was too young to delve into the art of drinking yet. "Why can't I go Riut? Me and my father would go for drinks all the time."

"Because you are too young for that Kaiden. When you are older or see some of the mercenaries when they return, will you understand why." Riut could see right through his lie, and calling the boy out for it made Riut both happy and sad at the same time. He was happy because the boy wouldn't have to endure the things Riut used to endure when he got drunk, leaving his body intensely pain ridden and sore. He was sad because the boy wanted that so much that he was willing to lie to a strange assassin and risk whatever Riut was capable of doing.

"Why don't you look like most of the other crew Riut?" The question caught Riut off guard.

"Well I'm not like them. They battle in close quarters and on open battlefield with short ranged weapons, like the ones you've been training with. Me, I try and avoid those situations best I can. When coming against someone like Arthur, their brute strength would beat mine strength on a heartbeat. I go for stealth, sneaking around and using things like poison, arrows, cunning, and daggers to kill."

"Then why do you have that then." the boy said pointing at Riut's Khanda.

"It's so I can actually have a fair fight with men like Arthur," Riut said, "My daggers," he pulls them out, "Aren't very effective weapons against a broadsword."

The men return to the ship the next day, obviously hung over, with the exception of a few. "So Arthur how are your men?" Riut asked with a slight chuckle.

"Look for yourself." He shook his head smiling. Until he saw his assassins were hung over also... He should've known that they would sneak out while he was asleep. Arthur slaps him on the back. "Maybe next time you can joke about that Riut." He and a few of the less hungover men go out in search of the lumber mill. They arrived when the sun was a quarter of the way through it's journey to the ocean.

"Hello" Riut said to the beefy man hauling lumber around the mill. "We need to get some knowledge of some men that passed through here. We believe they got their wood from here." Riut said without emotion.

"Why do you need to know that? You aren't looking fur trouble are ya?" He said back suspiciously.

"We're trying to find a friend that was kidnapped." Riut said to the man.

"Ahhh," the lumberjack said greedily, "Your going to have to pay for tha-" Riut's dagger is brought quickly to the man's throat.

"Tell us or you die" Riut said bluntly, blood dripping from the man's neck.

"They I don't know who they were, but the carpenter said he needed a good amount of wood for a large amount of ships. Honestly!" He said his eyes wide and staring at Riut trying not to look down as he feels something being tied to his foot.

"I would recommend not stepping or trying to tell the Rul behind you that we were here." He says seeing the colors of the Rul in the wood behind the man. Fear is the best weapon of all in Riut's mind. He placed a jar of slight acid under his foot, to tempt him not to step away. The rope tying him to the fence would keep him from running as he turned around. But of course the acid would hurt but, by the time he found out how powerful it really was they'd be long gone.

They made it to the carpenter's quickly. Riut told him men to stay outside on the crossroads, that intersected a few feet back, so they don't look threatening in the Nan's eyes. The man looked up, he had an impressive nordic looking red beard. "What can I do for you laddies?" He asked with a smile. Riut didn't like this guy at all, everything stunk of an ambush.

"We are looking for who made the large order of boats and where they said they came from." Riut said hand on his dagger. He turned around hear some commotion a little farther away. It sounded like combat, Where those his men?. 'Somethings not-' A punch from the man knocked him to the ground. 'shit he's strong' Riut rolled to the left narrowly avoiding a hatchet falling where he was sitting before. He pulls a light bag from this waist and emptied a bit into his hands, blowing to at his attacker. It stung a bit on him but not much as he was used to this material. It was a very strong mushroom powder that caused people to hallucinate. Riut, in his rush to take down his attacker, inhaled some himself. Everything fell into a slow motion state. The colors around him distorting and changing. Nothing he couldn't handle, all of the king's guards in Kinthrid were trained to fight through these effects. Being out off practice with this, he was off balance. Compared to the other man he was doing fine. Riut walking around the dry dock, found a manifold of all completed orders in the last month. Riut ran back to the boat, noticing many cloaked figures on the ground in puddles of what Riut guessed was blood as it looked bright blue to him. He made it back to the boat, looked at the men seeing the same liquid on their swords and armor. "guessing the men here are not with us, Ei?

//Everyone were attacked on transit to the dry dock, Riut was so FS ahead he didn't hear them being attacked. Must of missed that detail. Sorry. Then he drugged the carpenter because they at with the Rul//

Arthur approached Riut with blood staining his sword, "You alright brother?"

Riut looked at Arthur with dilated eyes, "Yeah, but I'm hungry."

Arthur chuckled and helped him to the ship, taking the manifest //It's a manifest, not manifold// from him. He sat him on his pallet toward the stern of the ship, and flipped through. He read that the carpenter here had been manufacturing ships for both King Davin AND the Rul. He sat down next to the helm of the ship, thinking. He then came to a sudden realization.

Davin was working with the Rul.

"Good job Arthur," Erea said, manifesting to Arthur but not Riut. "What else can you deduce from this?"

"Davin figured if he took out their leadership, the Ashmen would be easier to take out. Launching a surprise attack with the Rul, financed by Davin, the man would be dead and his city put to the torch. He was right, the Ashmen are ripe for the picking..." Arthur thought in his head.

"Now you know why you must get your friend, and go back to fight this war. Davin seeks to destroy the balance of Eremor. You three, and a few others, will bring it back to rights," Erea said, then vanished.

While that happened, Riut fell asleep. Arthur climbed to the crows nest, and sat down, looking into the darkness. He had to find Marcus, and soon. He would know what to do, or at least have some sort of plan.

Water particles hit Riut's face. Then he is knocked down by a wave that has engulfed the Ven Dova. Returning to his feet he hears a clap of thunder from overhead. "Riut pull your head out of the clouds and get some of this loose material tied down!" Arthur yells at Riut, snapping him back to reality.

"Will do Arthur!" Riut yells back, wiping the new water from his face. He turns to a set of barrels, he starts tying them down, surprised that they are still standing after that wave. A crack of lightning hits nearby the boat, the proximity to the boat was very close to Riut, maybe two arms lengths away. He could feel himself moved a little as the air closed in where the lightning was. Then there was the thunder. This all seemed like slow-motion to Riut, feeling the sound ripple through his body like a mallet on a drum. When it passes he continues work, his ears ringing like a bell. "That was too close Arthur we almost lost our mast there!" Riut yelled to Arthur. There was no response, Riut quickly turns to see Arthur being carried over the side by a wave. "MAN OVERBOARD!" Riut yells not a moment later. Riut reacting quickly ties a rope to himself, checks it's integrity and jumps over the side. The water was cold, very cold. He could feel the cold penetrating his skin and entering his bones. He didn't care. The need to find his friend was too important to him. He swam trudging through the immense waves knocking him about. He surfaced after being forced under by a particularly large wave "ARTHUR!" Riut yells, water dripping off his head and into his eyes, blinding him.

"HELP!" Riut hears it over the storm, just barely. He swims toward the man crying out.

"TRY AND SWIM TOW-" He is cut off by a wave. "COME TOWARDS ME!" He sees Arthur's outline as he is carried up a wave. He was very close but, Riut's rope was starting to run out. Time slowed.
'I know your scared of the water Riut, you've done well so far. Now save your friend. You must overcome this fear.' Riut's spirit took a deep breath, time speed up and he slipped off the rope, reaching for Arthur's hand. He grabs it and they swim, Riut's heart racing, trying not to think off the fact he's in a storm at the open ocean. A thought struck Riut, He's lost the rope. He stares at his hands, it was gone, they were going to die out there. Riut began to panic, smacking his head on something hard. The world turns black.

He awakens on a rocky coast. The sky white with a blue tint. The noon sun glaring into his eyes, making it hard to see. Riut starts to rise, he is forced back down by the immense pain threatening to suck the conscience world from him again. He turns his head, not too much, just enough to see the Ven Dova, holding anchor offshore. A row boat is moving towards the beach. Arthur leading in the front. They landed. Arthur walks up to him. "Please never freak out like that again. I was trying to tell you we were about 50 yards from shore but, you were having a panic attack on me. Hit your head pretty good on that rock over there."

"How long have I been out?" Riut asks quietly.

"All last night and about to noon here. The Helmsmen of the Ven Dova followed your line as you went. Almost crashed on the rocks doing it. The others say your line got caught on the barrels you were tying up. That is the tension you felt. We were both very lucky. I was caught in a current, don't know where i would be if you didn't come for me. Thank you Riut." four men raise Riut into the air and carry him to the row boat. Riut didn't notice the men land behind Arthur. "Where are we Garry?" Riut hears Arthur ask as he is returned to the Ven Dova.

//lol. Arthur was swept off his own ship. Thats emasculating.//
