Delta Base 0956 [FT RP]

Ghost finished reassembling his weapon and realized that everyone else was gone. Well someone could have tapped me on the shoulder or something. He got up and stretched, then decided to check out the armory. On his way there he passed the kitchen, and saw Solomon moving around the kitchen. He couldn't smell the food because of his helmet's filters, but he guessed that it would be good. He stood outside of the armory, he put in his code on the keypad and the door hissed open. He was amazed, the room was filled with enough weapons for a small army. All kinds of weapon designs from Heliman to Dernlandian to Fiji Granden. He picked up a Dernlandian Sniper rifle, a weapon he was very familiar with. What the hell am I supposed to do with this inside a space station. He looked over several other weapons finally resting on the SPL-AT Heliman weapon. His hand grabbed it, crushed the barrel, and threw it across the room with a yell.

Suddenly Ghost was back at Karrion charging towards the terrorists. His weapon fired, a human fell there, a heliman fell over there. Suddenly a rocket exploded next to him, sending him flying. He clutched the stump of his arm, screaming. His blood crystallizing on the ground. So this is how it ends, Ghost thought as he felt the veins around his wound start to crystallize. Back in the present Ghost sat in the corner of the armory whimpering and hugging his knees.

Marcus walked to the control room, where he found Spencer playing his music. Marcus chuckled. Everyone seemed so intrigued. They could never imagine how bland it could all become. Marcus walked to the desk and turned down the music.

"Hey Spencer, can I call you Spencer? Anyways, you asked why we are here, so I thought I would show you."

Turning to the wall, Marcus accessed a database and pulled up an audio recording. "We received this audio recording several years ago. We do not really understand the audio, and no one yet has translated it. All we know is that it sounds threatening, and it means there are others out there."

With that, he played the audio.

OUTSIDE RECORDING

Marcus Caroc:

"Yes, you may call me Spencer."

Karl got up and walked to the star map, looking out beyond the galaxy, his hands in the pockets of his suit. Marcus turned on the audio. The noise immediately struck him as very shrill, but he listened intensely. It felt designed to pop his eardrums. Interesting. Definitely an oscillating noise, so it is unlikely, but not impossible, that this was naturally created. Threatening? Maybe. But only from our perspective. We have no possible way of identifying the origin of the source, which proves nothing. The noise stopped.

"That doesn't really prove anything - we could be out here for nothing. But I understand why.... it's strange. I'm assuming the recording goes on for hours? Have they been able to identify a general direction as to its source, or is it just..... out there...? In any case, I'll analyze it. It'll give me something to do. For now though, isn't dinner time? I'm famished!"

Marcus nodded, and walked out of the door towards the mess hall. He was almost out of the room, when an alarm went off. Marcus ran to the controls, Spencer close behind him.

"Shit! Proximity alert! Something is heading towards us. Spencer, check the shields, and power up the ion cannons!"

Marcus called across the base, "Soldiers! We have a proximity alerts, arm yourselves, and report to your stations! Ghost we need you in the control room to man the guns, Neo head to Mainenance, and Solomon, I need you to bring Spencer and I weaponry!"

"Spencer, How is the base? And gauge the threat level here!"

Marcus was in a panic, less than a day and there was already a crisis. Four months and not even a blip on the radar. Now this? This was not good.

Ghost jumped up when he heard the alarm.

"Soldiers! We have a proximity alerts, arm yourselves, and report to your stations! Ghost we need you in the control room to man the guns, Neo head to Maintenance, and Solomon, I need you to bring Spencer and I weaponry!" He heard Marcus call over the base speakers

Ghost grabbed his rifle and ran towards the exit, luckily the cannon control was just down the corridor. He propped the rifle on the control panel and began powering up the cannons. As the cannons were readying he pulled up internal security cameras to see if anything was inside the base. He saw nothing but he kept the screens online to monitor the situation. The cannons were fully powered, and all four showed green. Good, lets see what we're up against.

Solomon was finishing up the meal when he heard the alarm activate:

"Soldiers! We have a proximity alerts, arm yourselves, and report to your stations! Ghost we need you in the control room to man the guns, Neo head to Maintenance, and Solomon, I need you to bring Spencer and I weaponry!" He heard Marcus call over the base speakers.

Solomon rushed by Neo and booked it for the armory. It took him less than five minutes to arrive at the door. Solomon pressed his hand on the scanner and the door opened up to show a mass array of weaponry. "Bring Spencer and I weaponry!" Solomon grabbed an anti-armor rifle, two assault rifles that he randomly grabbed and put on his back, and two Sub-Machine guns hung on his belt. He grabbed as much ammo as possible and bolted for Spencer and Marcus. Solomon had the anti-armor rifle loaded and ready in case of an encounter in the halls. Every corner, he stopped and peeked around the corner. Then ran as fast as possible.

Solomon was almost there when he tripped and went down on one knee. He quickly recovered and saw burning and destroyed buildings everywhere. He kept running when a mortar round exploded next to him. He took cover and made eye contact with him... The man lifted his rifle at Solomon and Solomon the same.

He blinked and Solomon had already found Marcus and Spencer scrambling all base defenses...

"MARCUS. We don't know who they are, how powerful they are -- I need you to send an urgent message to HQ! We may be dead in an instant!" Karl ran to the central control table, all hunger forgotten. Quickly, he found the source of the signal, bearing 008 mark 7. "This could be a false alarm! The warning sounds if an unidentified object enters our space sector. It's coming from the center of the galaxy though.... " Karl re-entered the planetarium mode of the control room, and put the zoom up on full. "It's still a few AU away. The cameras won't pick it up too well. Let's see if we can get a heat signature."

"Now comes the question of strategy, being why I asked earlier today! If we send that message to HQ, they may be able to intercept it, or at least use it to locate us. We don't know what they know. We don't know how long they've been out there. We need to keep the base under control. The situation needs to be handled carefully. If we shoot, we're done for. We'll have proven ourselves aggressive, and, potentially, a threat - though I doubt that. WE NEED TO BE INVISIBLE."

Solomon entered with the guns. "Ummm... I don't know much about aliens, but this certainly won't do anything." He took the gun anyway.

"It's still approaching. It's moving faster than any other object would. It'll be here within the hour, it looks like. Let's see..." Karl ran to the audio input channel, turning it on low. Random Crackle. "Nothing. If it were the outsiders, the audio would pick it up."

He ran to the intercom: "Neo! Hold your fire! We don't know what we're up against!"

Karl turned to Solomon and Marcus. "Marcus - hold that message. No point in alerting HQ for nothing."

"Now what?"

Karl looked at Solomon and Marcus with a look on his face of confusion and desperation. "Ummm... I don't know much about aliens, but this certainly won't do anything." Karl said as he took the gun anyway. "I was told to bring weaponry" Solomon replied.

This object was heading straight towards them making some bizarre noise. Why it sounded so familiar to Solomon, he didn't know. He tried to remember his first week with the Crumstainite Space Agency where they picked up an unusual cosmic anomaly. He tried to remember what it was exactly but the current situation kept distracting him. Solomon tried to figure out all the options they could take.

"Is it possible to shut down all electronics and systems?" asked Solomon "If these are aliens, would it be possible that they are tracking us from our systems? Shutting down everything could make us invisible....but we would be without shields or weaponry..." Solomon began to get lost in his thoughts. "Could the aliens destroy the base from out there or would they have to breach in here?" Solomon asked.

Less than one day and the base was on full alert. "What the hell? We just got here and told nothing has happened, and now we are possibly going to die within the next few hours!? What would be making the aliens come to this small outpost?"

Solomon then noticed that Karl had been playing music. He didn't know the base even came with music on the systems...

Ghost listened to the discussion in the control room. He suddenly had an idea, a dangerous idea. If these contacts were indeed hostile they would need to warn the rest of the galaxy, and since this was the base's primary function, it should work. He left the cannon control room and ran back to the armory. Ghost grabbed several cubes of plastic explosive, as well as anti-personnel mines. he ordered the synthetics to help him carry stationary heavy guns down to the hangar in preparation for an assault. He activated the comm system of his helmet and said, "Captain, the cannons are activated and awaiting firing commands. I am fortifying the hangar and preparing for boarding actions in the base."

Karl picked up the comm system. "Ghost... The object's really small. Can't be larger than a small aerocar. We're also receiving Ibsenian call signs from it. Be prepared for the worst; it could be a trick - but hold your fire until Marcus gives the order! He may no longer be our superior, but he certainly has more experience."

Karl turned back to Solomon and Marcus. "It's true -- look." On one of the overhead screens, an incoming signal was being received. "It seems to be coming from the Ibsenian space corvette. But it can't be -- it should be several light years from here by now. The message is encrypted. We'd best stay on guard, but be extra cautious. We still don't know what we're dealing with, and its trajectory shows it's headed right for us!"

Marcus watched the object approach. He had seen corvettes approach, this was much to small, but yet it still seemed to know the correct signal to send to ISW bases. He made an executive call. 

"Bring the object in. Spencer, we should have a tractor beam, bring the object into the hangar. I will stay here with you. Neo and Solomon, go help Ghost fortify the hangar. Spencer and I will be down shortly, once the object has landed. Spencer, lets also try to get in communication with the object, and get a better visual."

Solomon left Karl and Marcus to watch the incoming object. He made his way to the armory again to pickup more weaponry. Solomon still had the sniper rifle with him, similar to the one he used in the revolution. If the craft had individuals who were to enter the hangar, he would need to bring more rifles and maybe that Machine gun... Solomon proceeded to run his hand slowly on some of the weapons admiring the craftsmanship. Then something caught his eye. He had spotted some personal shields that could be deployed for cover. He grabbed two of them as they were medium sized discs.

He left the armory, shutting the door behind him. He quickly made his way to the hangar to rendezvous with Ghost.

Solomon aimed his sights at the soldier. He fired his rifle while strafing to avoid the barrage of bullets from the enemy soldier. The soldier dropped to the ground bleeding all over the ground from multiple bullet entry wounds. It was a slow death. Solomon crawled out of the destroyed structure and found himself outside an armored personnel carrier. News of the new space program was exciting for the rural nation of Crumstain. A true sign of progress after the revolutionary war. "How could you leave me Solomon!" He heard a voice "It's suicide and you know it dammit! The voice kept repeating over and over again getting louder and louder.

Solomon stood in front of the Hangar entrance and found Ghost setting up fortifications on the perimeter...

Neo ran out the maintenance room doors, passing Solomon. Neo stared as he walked by. What is wrong with him?, Neo thought seeing his eyes. They were whited over and his pupils were insanely large. Neo pondered why he might look like that as he made his way down the stairs, almost gliding down the railing, trying to save time. He opened the armory door and a TTA-5 Para caught his eye. Perfect Neo thought smiling under his helmet. He strapped it and a HM-05 to his belt and grabbed as many boxes of ammo as he could carry. He left the Armory with his hand full and entered the hanger. He saw both Solomon and Ghost there setting up defenses. "Thought you might need these." Neo said setting the ammo boxes down next to the door. "Now where do you need me?" Neo said looking at the plethora of weapons that Ghost and Solomon had brought. Neo looked at Ghost and felt something tug at his insides.

Life was but a blur that day...
An average day gone horribly wrong.
The only action Neo saw before shipping out to Delta Base 0956. They were at a Falling Stars embassy in Karrion, Dernland. He was part of the escort of Herald Brutus, the FS ambassador to Dernland. They had been waiting outside the Embassy when a flashbang went out in the courtyard. Neo had been majory stunned by it... The noise... it was unbelievable. When the noise and blindness had faded, Neo looked up to see a group of about 30-40 people in masked charging the embassy with Dernlandian weapons. Neo looked around, gripping his TER-45, watching both Dernlandian Forces and Helimen engaging the attackers. Neo was pulled up by a Dernlandian who immediately began firing. Both sides were taking casualties. Neo fired his weapon, taking one. He sighted another but, not before an RPG exploded near him. Neo was knocked down a pain in his leg. He remembered praying to the gods that his leg was still there. He painfully lifted his head. Concussion not too bad, he let out a sigh of relief when he noticed his leg was still there. He slowly sat up. Looking around, the battle had moved away from the embassy and a helicopter was providing support to the infantry on the ground. No doubt the battle wouldn't last too long. Neo looked over and saw a Dernlandian soldier with his arm missing. Poor bastard must've taken the RPG for me. Neo thought crawling to help the one other soldier patch the guy up. Neo removed his helmet, it was useless right now. He applied pressure to the arm while the other soldier stabbed the guy with a blue liquid filled needle.

Wait... Neo thought, flashing back to reality, Is it.... He recalled the man's armor from the embassy. A perfect match... Holy fuck....

"Wait but Marcus...." Marcus was out of sight. All right then... tractor beam it is. I was only going to ask if the base could handle it... how is this place powered anyway? Tractor Beams require vast consumption of energy.

"Alright. Initiating tractor beam." The entire base seemed to shudder for a second. "It's being pulled in. No resistance. Now it's right outside of our hangar. Marcus! What's your plan?", he asked crisply.

"I want two guns up there on that catwalk." Ghost ordered several of the synthetics. He pointed at three more and called. "You three, start moving the crates to make barricades."

Ghost was there again, on the ground, screaming. A medic was there, injecting the anti-crystallizing fluid into his shoulder. He felt the pain recede, and sighed, knowing that he would still die if not now then later. A heliman was crawling towards Ghost, and the medic shouted, "STOP! You can't touch him or you'll be infected!" The medic looked slightly panicked as he tried to stop the now rapid bleeding.

He suddenly dropped the HMG he was carrying, wincing in pain. Not now, not now! Ghost ignored the pain and continued to prepare the defenses. Solomon and Neo entered with more weapons. "Good, now do either of you know how to operate a high caliber sniper rifle?" He asked them.

"Good, now do either of you know how to operate a high caliber sniper rifle?" Ghost asked Solomon and Neo. "Yes, I have experience." said Solomon. He remembered his time as a sniper for the Mechanized unit he was apart of. He operated one of the most advanced high caliber sniper rifles ever developed and saved several innocent lives with it.

Solomon spotted a small catwalk in the rear of the hangar that was idea for a sniper to be placed. It had proper cover and was far from the entrance where the ship would land.

"I can setup up on that catwalk over there" Solomon suggested to Ghost as he began to move towards the catwalk. He already knew it was the best spot anywhere in the hangar and didn't wait for approval from Ghost. Solomon set the rifle down and looked through the sight. It was all digital and all measurements he would ever need were calculated and presented through the scope. He took a few deep breaths and aimed towards the entrance waiting for the ship...

Marcus watched as the ship was pulled into the hangar. Grabbing an assault rifle, he ran down to the hangar. Signaling everyone into defensive positions, he called out.

"IF THERE IS ANYONE ON BOARD THIS CRAFT, EMERGE NOW OR YOUR LIVES ARE FORFEIT."

Marcus waited for a few seconds, and was about to give Neo and Ghost the signal to advance, when a hissing noise was heard from the pod as the door opened, twi figured steppef out, and Marcus aimed....

Character Description:

Complete the mission, open the way.. Blackness shrouded Adam's vision. A rhythmic bobbing and tugging of his collar told him he was being dragged. He smelled a residue of smoke, and stale air. He tried to move, but he felt no sensation in his limbs, nothing was responding. A dim ringing filled his head, steadily growing louder. Must have a concu- COMPLETE THE MISSION, OPEN THE WAY. He screamed in agony a it felt like metal teeth were engraving the words into his mind. Adam passed out once more.

Character Description:

Jason Heckliir woke up in a prison of nothing but white, and saw a human beside him. The Dotarian moved to wake him and the thing said, "Complete the mission... Open the way..."

Right then the torturing snapped back into his mind, the same thing the Human had to go through. Those... THINGS... They tried messing with his mind to make him go crazy, but a Vanguard Knight's mind is not easily fooled or swayed. They did unspeakable things to him, things he didn't even remember, but after they were done they put him in this prison and knocked him out.

Now, he felt as though it was slowing down, then the sensation of the prison being set down on the ground brought the Dotarian to alertness. Where was he? What's going on?

"Adam, wake up brother. Hey, bastard, I know you can hear me!" Jason tried to say, as his hand tried to smack the Human awake, dwarfing the man's face.

"Complete the mission... Open the way..."

"By the fucking Titans..." Jason said, and the door opened. His eyes snapped to the door, and by instinct, his sword came out under his wrist //Kind of like a Hidden Blade from Assassin's Creed.// He then wondered, Why do I have my weapon? If I have this... Oh Gods, what's out there?

"Adam, wake the fuck up! Come on man, they're sending something else at us. WAKE UP!" Jason screamed, to no avail.

"Complete the mission... Open the way..."

Fuckin hell..." Jason said, then grabbed Adam in his arm and walked out with his blade in his hand. "WHO'S OUT THERE?!"

Once the steam subsided, he saw humans and an alien from his Ryse's ally Falling Stars pointing weapons at him. The disbleief was heavy in his eyes, was it finally over? Did he finally get set free?

"Adam, we're okay!" Jason tried telling Adam, then he turned to the people pointing guns at him, "Help me! HELP ME DAMNIT!"

//I'm so confused right now...//

Marcus was bewildered. What the hell were a Dotarian and a man doing out here, in the outer rim. What in the world. Thinking quickly, he signaled for everyone to relax and approached, weapon lowered.

"Normally I would be wary of two scrubs floating in an escape pod in the outer rim. But you are most definitely a Dotarian, and not some sort of shapeshifter. Uhh, Solomon, can you lead our cuckoo friend here to the infirmary? //with the greenhouse// i want to speak with this Dotarian. Follow me if you will, to the barracks. Ghost, Neo, On me. Spencer, you should probably alert HQ about our situation."

"I'm going with Adam," Jason declared, "He isn't the same since..."

"Since what?" the Human asked, clearly an Ibsenian accent.

"Since... I dunno. All I know is we were tortured by... Things... And Adam used to be my cell mate. After this last torture... He's been like this," Jason said, trying to remember.

"What happened to you? Who did this?" the Ibsenian pressured.

"I don't know! all I know, is that there was much pain, much suffering, and then I woke up in that thing," Jason said, pointing to the pod.

Jason retracted his blade and grabbed his own head, sitting down on the ground and rocking back and forth. He was trying to remember, but the more he tried the more normal he felt and the less he seemed to remember.

//I kinda made this up as I went last night, Hock's going to be pissed.....//

Solomon positioned himself in a way that he would be able to pick off the enemy combatants. The doors to the craft opened and soldiers poured out firing their weapons and releasing smoke grenades around the Landing zone. Solomon had his trusty high caliber sniper rifle attached with thermal sights. He was able to see all 8 soldiers in various stances firing through the smoke. Solomon took aim at one soldiers head and pulled the trigger. On the scope, he could not make out that soldiers head anymore. He moved on to the next soldier and fired away. The craft flew away into the darkness and all enemy soldiers lay dead in the dirt road that was soaked in blood and covered with bullet shells.

Meanwhile, an enemy attack helicopter began to fire at Solomon. He quickly gathered his rifle and sprinted for cover while the cannons on the helicopter sprayed around him. The floor beneath Solomon crumbled and he fell down to the next floor. He was in pain as he had his eyes shut and prone on the floor.

Solomon opened his eyes and was looking through the scope of the rifle. He watched as two individuals stepped out of the craft. He aimed the sights on one of the individuals heads and slowly put his finger on the trigger. He then noticed Marcus waiving at Solomon to stand down and come regroup with everyone. Solomon made his way to them and was told to take one of the strange men to the infirmary. Solomon took one step when one of the men began to speak.

"I'm going with Adam," the man declared, "He isn't the same since..."

"Since what?" the Marcus asked

"Since... I dunno. All I know is we were tortured by... Things... And Adam used to be my cell mate. After this last torture... He's been like this," the man said, trying to remember.

"What happened to you? Who did this?" the Marcus pressured.

"I don't know! all I know, is that there was much pain, much suffering, and then I woke up in that thing," the man said, pointing to the pod.

"Do I need to take both of them to the infirmary?" Solomon asked Marcus. Solomon began playing a scenario in his mind of the two men possibly turning on him in the hallway when they got far away enough from the hangar. "I could walk behind them and order them the directions to the infirmary" Solomon thought "That way, I can react to anything and pull my weapon out..."
