The Modern Tech War: The Pacific Rim Mk. 2

Post by Atlantica on Sat Mar 08, 2014 9:17 pm

Map of Strategos Prime (Click for better resolution)

At the edges of the Pacific Ocean stood two powers - Atlantica and Caliwestia. Caliwestia stood at the east; Atlantica held upon the west. They increased military power for one ultimate goal: achieving the rank of Peacemaker and Power of the Pacific. However, there cannot be two lords upon the same sea: one had to be downed somehow.

Tensions really began upon the Marshall Islands: they were long-term disputed territories between the two nations. Each of their coast guard would come almost every hour, standing against each other. However, on a day of March 2014, military conflict broke out at last: after a ten-minute struggle between each of the Coast Guard cutters, they left each other with dozens of casualties - some even killed. Extreme criticism went back and forth the nations: a war was coming.

There had been rumors that a military action was being planned against each other - a war was coming upon the Pacific and beyond.

March 2nd, 2014
700km Southeast of Wake Island
U.R.C.G. Hampton

Two ships stood against each other with a three-kilometer interval, sailing through the North Pacific and toward the Marshall Islands. Colored in white, both turned their autocannons toward each other, preparing for anything. Several coast guards began to scramble to their positions, ready for the worst attack situations.

They were the Atlantican and the Caliwestian Coast Guards, advancing toward their disputed territories of the Marshall Islands.

Captain Tristan Williams led the Atlantican Coast Guard cutter U.R.C.G. Hampton - a 4,000-ton cutter armed with two 76 mm cannons for gun combat. From the bridge, he saw the Caliwestian cutter - a ship about the same size, except that it had been armed with 57 mm cannons. Though the Hampton outnumbered the Caliwestian cutter in terms of caliber, Captain Williams knew that they fell behind in rate-of-fire.

More warning shots were exchanged: using the fast fire rate, the Caliwestian cutter fired up right in front of the Hampton, while the Hampton shot dozens of rounds right toward the side, almost striking the Caliwestian cutter. The dangerous war continued on for the next five minutes, until an unconfirmed Caliwestian guard began to fire a heavy machine gun on the side. It struck a few Atlantican guards of the Hampton, spraying blood through the shot area. The Hampton's guards engaged as well: though they managed to kill the guard, more gunners were on the way.

"They've attacked the Hampton, sir," Lieutenant Charles Zhang said. "We must strike back."

Captain Williams sighed, trying to gain composure and determination. "Yes, we must strike back. Fire up the cannons and take the shit out of the Caliwestians!"

And the battle between the two cutters began: the two 76 mm guns began to open fire against the Caliwestian cutter, while 57 mm guns, using their fast rate-of-fire, responded. Several 57 mm rounds struck the cutter, but they weren't able to penetrate them. The Hampton fired against the 57 mm gun, which were destroyed in the next ten seconds.

"Gun downed, the ship to go," Captain Williams said, commanding calmly form the Bridge. "Take down their ship ASAP."

Then, one of the last rounds from the now-destroyed 57 mm gun struck the Hampton's side, while a few soldiers were downed. A red tower of fire began to rise upon the side, coupled by smoke. The automatic machine guns blazed to life, while the Caliwestian guards were also firing the same.

"Take those idiots down to hell!" Captain Williams urged, as the Hampton began to escape from the fire. "Ask the Navy for support - anything of any form would be good now."

Just as they retreated, the Hampton fired two final rounds from its 76 mm gun - one struck the side, the other struck near the Caliwestian cutter's engine. Captain Williams had one last look of the Caliwestian cutter on fire, before the Hampton scrambled out of range.

MARCH 3RD, 2014
PANAMA CANAL, PANAMA
TECG Bertholf

Captain Roberts looked out to sea from within the Panama Canal. His thoughts were the same as the crew, Why are we here? This is the Navy's job, not the Coast Guard's!.

The blockade of the Panama Canal preventing the passage of Caliwestian vessels had been in place for a week now, cutting off Caliwestia from one of their major shipping routes.

Roberts looked over at the half dozen other nearby vessels, all painted white with the signature red stripe, all aiming their auto cannons out to sea. They all knew that Caliwestia would launch an assault soon, but they didn't know when.

Ten Minutes later, they were in battle stations. Several dozen ships had been detected on radar heading from the south, and closing in fast. Roberts ordered the radio officer on board to contact the vessels, questioning their nationality and intention.

The radio officer yelled to Roberts, "Don't shoot! They are from our ally Hijjma and are here to help us with the blockade!"

Roberts smiled and radioed the other ships telling them the great news. They finally had a true naval force to help blockade the canal.

March 3RD, 2014
Pearl Harbor: Caliwestian Pacific Command

Chief communications officer Dan Bouer leaned forward his against his desk as his radio beeped out a message. "This is the CSW Hopper. We're by the Marshall islands, as requested. We spotted an Atlantican ship, and opened fire. We got some good hits across, but we have sustained major damage as well. Our 57 mm gun is destroyed, and our crew number is down at 254 from our original 281, though many more have sustained severe wounds.

The Atlantican ship initiated the aggression, firing near-miss shots along our broadside, and we responded only in defense. We request immediate support."

Dan Bouer responded quickly "This is the CWPC. Confirm your position and bearing. We shall deploy the CSW Lake Erie from its current position to you, as well as the CSW Bremerton and CSW Jacksonville. They will be with you in three days. You'll have to hold on until then."

"We are at 7.1429, 171.0396; bearing Northeast."

Bouer stood, picked up his phone, and called Admiral Nolan Matthews, even though he was on the other side of the same building. "We've got a situation. Tensions between us and the Atlanticans have erupted into a miniwar in the Southeast Asian Pacific, near the Marshall Islands. I've authorized the departure of a destroyer and two subs to aid the Hopper, but we need to minimalize the threats. We don't want a full out Pacific war. In addition, it looks like the Topsailians have blockaded Panama."

"Meet me in twenty minutes in the Situation room. Alert the facility."
---
Twenty minutes later...
---

"Alright. We have a connection through to San Francisco with the President online."

"Good afternoon, gentlemen. I understand we have a situation."

Matthews explained to President John Dunning. "We need to stabilize the situation. However, Atlantica has committed an act of war, and we need to repay them for that."

"Hold on. Prepare your facility and your fleet. I fear the worst is yet to come. But declaring war would be outrageous. We need to seek diplomatic options with the UN and the international community."

"Mr. President. The threat that Atlantica poses to the Pacific is much more dire than a few islands. Our tankers go through that region enroute to the Middle East on contract with Organized Geth for oil. We will need to send cpnvoys with them to protect them. In addition, the Marshall islands could become a key naval base for us, to project our power into the Asia-Pacific region. It could also help serve our expansionist needs into the Australian continent if we indeed choose to go that route. We need to keep our options open. The further the Atlanticans expand, the more powerful they get. And there's a point at which we must not allow them to cross."

"That is understood. Send in more ships to the area. Now - switching to the Topsailian Blockade.. It is my understanding that the Panama canal is crucial to our ability to get involved in the Atlantic."

"That, and the fact that if Atlantica ends up controlling too much of the Pacific, we'd have trouble regaining access to the Mediterranean."

"Do what you need to do to maintain control of the Pacific. I will not declare war without the support of the Caliwestian people, but since when has declaring war been 'a thing'? Hahaha.!"

"The majority of our ships are stationed in San Diego. I will order that some go to San Francisco, a few others to support these islands, and that two thirds of our submarine fleet submerge and disperse. I will also send the CSW Ford (//aircraft carrier//) and an envoy of several other ships south along the Baja coast of California in the direction of Panama. We'll have plenty of time to turn them around in case Topsail backs down. If not... then we'll see about that."

As the Topsail Blockade is made up of all Coast Guard vessels, supported by 3 Carriers, 5 Transport Docks, 5 Cruisers, and 15 Destroyers from Hijjma, the Caribbean Fleet of the Topsail Navy is deployed to the area, while the coast guard vessels are pulled back to guard the Caribbean, and blockade Grenada. The following ships are sent:

2 aircraft carriers
3 Amphibious Assault Ships, 3,000 soldiers
2 Amphibious Transport Docks, 2,000 soldiers
10 Cruisers
14 Destroyers
4 Frigates
2 LCS

So by that, we're both founded in 2014, and NORAD is mine. It shouldn't matter what year I was founded in, in comparison to you, because I currently have control of Colorado - specifically Cheyenne mountain.

The Parliament, Seoul, Atlantica

Meanwhile, at the Parliament of Seoul, Atlantica, Princeps Victor Kim had called on the NSC (National Security Council) - which was made of all ministers, all significant military commanders and senators. From the recent situations upon the Marshall Islands, the NSC seemed to be as serious as ever.

"As far as things have went, the Caliwestian cutter has started the attack: they have struck our ship first. General Shen Lun, under the Joint Military Command Wing, summed up the situation. "Their actions are clear acts of war: they have started a mini-war over at the Marshall Islands, which is going to be quite a war."

"Any support from the Navy or the Air Force?" Princeps Victor Kim asked, eyeing on the Minister of Defense.

"The U.R.S. Shen, a Phoebus Apollo-Class Destroyer, has been sent to the area," Nguyen Takahashi, the Minister of Defense, responded quickly. " A wing of F-25A 'Ghost Birds' have departed from Magellan Air Force Base at Guam, heading straight for the Marshall Isles and vicinity. However, it is explicit that the Caliwestians would send more: after all, they intend to use the Marshall Islands as their new forward base."

"Any news from the Panama Canal and vicinity?" Princeps Victor Kim inquired.

"Topsail and Hijjma forces combined are taking control in the Panama Canal, to our luck," Minister Takahashi said. "They have blocked Caliwestia's naval contact from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and vice versa. But things are moving quickly here: according to our intelligence satellites, fleets have been dispatched from San Diego to San Francisco, the Marshall Isles and the Canal."

"What about the submarine forces?" Minister Charles Akulov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, asked. "Any news from them yet?"

"Over 75% of them are in the East Pacific, deep under the sea," Minister Takahashi responded. "Some of the stealth submarines are dispatched not very far from Everett, San Diego and even San Francisco: they are always ready for a final operation."

"Fair enough," the Princeps finally said. "Now, to go to the main point, the Caliwestian plot to take over the Pacific Ocean is explicit: after all, the Marshall Islands may not even be the beginning. Besides, if they actually control these isles, then they would gain access further into the West Pacific and even Australia: they pose a serious threat to our allies."

"Shall we declare war against them, Princeps?" Minister Charles Akulov asked.

"Absolutely," the Princeps agreed. "Deploy four carrier strike forces over at the East Pacific, while deploying another towards the Marshall Islands. Also, organize an aerial strike force of B-10 Stealth bombers, F-25 fighters and UF-1 Sky Sword UCAVs - a strike force of such is needed as well."

"Any further commands, Princeps?" Secretary of State Vladimir Akula asked.

"I hereby authorize the full activation of Operation Zeus Spear against Caliwestia," the Princeps said. "And in the meantime, write out a Declaration of War against Caliwestia, and connect me to President Andrew Williams of the Topsail Empire, along with President of Hijjma: We have matters to discuss."

20:00, March 3rd, 2014
Skies of Hawaii, Caliwestia

20 B-10 stealth bombers, 54 F-25A 'Ghost Birds' and 30 UF-1 'Dark Swords' blazed through the skies of Hawaii, Caliwestia. They were a massive stealth strike package - designated to strike down the Pacific Fleet Command and all other systems upon Hawaii, as a part of Operation Zeus Spear. Using their stealth and supercruise, the strike package advanced in supersonic speed, invisible from enemy radar.

Soon, as they towered towards the coastline of Hawaii, the strike group split up: bombers heading toward Pearl Harbor and vicinity, while fighters began to head for defenses and primary targets. Once they located down the targets, they headed for the main destruction.

The bombers began to head toward Pearl Harbor, where several ships were gathered and docked. Once the EOTS found the targets, they dropped their laser-guided bombs straight for Pearl Harbor and the Pacific Fleet Command. Due to the perfect weather, the bombs zeroed in, hitting ships of various sizes - from Aegis cruisers and destroyers to even Littoral Combat Ships - in deathly precision. Though the ships were powerful out on the sea, they seemed to be no use upon the harbor, docked and completely vulnerable. In a matter of seconds - the entire Pacific Fleet Command and Pearl Harbor were up in flames, completely destroyed.

The fighters headed for the main defense systems and the airfields - primary infrastructures and defense systems that would be threats for the Atlantican Military in further operations. Though an array of standoff weapons (already shot in advance) have significantly weakened the targets, most of them stood against the Atlantican forces - but the laser guided bombs and anti-radiation missiles put a stop to them as well. With anti-radiation missiles and laser-guided bombs, much of the air defenses, anti-ship missile sites and other defense sites were destroyed. In a matter of seconds, much of the targets were up in flames and explosions.

While Pearl Harbor was being destroyed, the drones began to take down primary infrastructures and Honolulu. Using their stealthy advantage, the drones dropped several guided bombs throughout the highway and rail networks around Hawaii, which were left destroyed in the next thirty seconds. Honolulu was no exception: its City Hall and State Government buildings were destroyed, while harbors and industrial parks were taken down. Then, after flying beyond the altitude of 70,000 feet, one drone dropped down an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) bomb over Honolulu, leaving much of the electronic systems near Honolulu - civilian and military alike - as nothing but trash.

Once the strike group began to escape with almost no damage, the Caliwestian forces in Hawaii began to realize the situation: but by the time they did, it had been too late. Hawaii had almost completely lost combat-worthiness, perfectly vulnerable against enemy attacks.

0400, March 4th, 2014
Denver, Caliwestia

Just as the fringes of dawn were appearing over Denver, 12 B-2 Stealth Bombers streaked towards the city. Four minutes later, the citizens of the great city would wake up to a bang. At 0404 hours, one of the bombers launched a massive thermobaric bomb right in the middle of the city, engulfing it in a massive fireball. 11 more massive thermobaric bombs would fall, all but demolishing the city.

The blockade of the Panama Canal continues, with the addition of the Topsail fleet which should be arriving in several hours. They also carry 5,000 Topsailian Marines to the Canal, hopefully preventing a possible Caliwestian amphibious assault on the Canal zone.

Re: The Modern Tech War: The Pacific Rim Mk. 2

Post by El Fiji Grande on Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:04 pm

19:54, March 3, 2014
Pacific Fleet Command

Dan Bouer furrowed his eyebrows, looking intensely at the screen in front of him. His passive radar was detecting disturbances rapidly moving toward Hawaii from the direction of Seoul. He got on the speaker system, literally screaming until his mouth frosted "We are under attack! Launch the missiles! Get planes into the air. GO GO GO GO!" A minute later alarm bells echoed through the building, and the ships at harbor started moving out to sea. The antiaircraft missiles had been launched, and friendly pilots were on the runway airbound. But it was too late. The enemy aircraft, moving at supersonic speeds, avoided the missiles and hit the harbor hard, damaging four of the nine ships stationed there badly, and sinking an additional two. Another division of bombers struck at the Pacific Command Center, causing white hot flames and black smoke to explode into the sky.

Dan Bouer was on the phone, screaming across the Pacific, calling for all-out war against the Atlanticans. Suddenly, explosions rocked the building, and he was blasted back off his feet. The phone went dead. He could feel the pain in his skull as his head slammed into the ground. And then everything went black.

20:08, March 3, 2014
Pearl Harbor

Explosions echoed around the harbor as the precision bombs punctured the hulls of the ships, instantly killing men. The ships turned their cannons skyward, firing several salvos into the evening sky. Two of the Atlantican bombers burst into flames, lost control, and slammed into the water miles away. They were forgotten instantly.

After one sweep, the Atlantican planes had taken many lives, and destroyed several ships. Douglas Brown, a naval officer called out to his men "That was the first pass. But we'll be ready for the second. Let's get this ship out of harbor!" The CSW Halsey found itself untouched after the first sweep, and then men kicked up the power. The nuclear reactor engine lurched the ship forward, propelling it swiftly out into open sea. "Those were fast aircraft. At the very least it means that they have a wide turn radius. That gives us a few minutes."

The planes swept overhead once more, this time ignoring the harbor and targeting Honolulu. Antiaircraft guns were prepared, and fired salvo after salvo. Of the 104 initial attacking planes, only twelve were shot down. Honolulu was left to burn, and major communications and transport networks were destroyed. The attack left over 5,000 people killed or wounded, and a billion chunks worth of damage in flames.

20:23, March 3, 2014
Pacific Command Center

Dan Bouer awoke with pain throbbing through his head. He lay there for several minutes, calming himself, trying to understand why he was still alive. He opened his eyes a crack. Electric lights hummed across the ceiling. He pulled himself upright, leaned against a wall, and put his right hand to his head. Blood. He cursed beneath his breath, then stood up carefully. He instantly realized what a bad idea that was, his knees buckling beneath him and his head quite dizzy. Instead, he made his way across the floor, leaving a trail of blood behind him. Quite soon, he found others, in similar conditions as he was. Finally, he realized what had happened. The Atlanticans had attacked the islands, but they had been relatively safe here, in the underground section of the facility. The power had gone out, bvut soon, the emergency generator had kicked into life. He wondered how the surface was faring. The situation down here was bad, but recoverable. The Atlanticans may have hit them hard, but it was long from over, and they had failed in their primary objective of taking out the command center.

Admiral Nolan Matthews felt the explosions rock the building, felt the echoes of screams emanating from above, and cursed. But he knew he was safe here, and he knew that the surface was doing all that they could to fend off the attack. He called the President, and acknowledged the attack. They had been attacked, and Caliwestia was now at war, the very situation they had wanted so desperately to avoid.
"We're mobilizing the entire fleet. We're going to need air support. Call for allies to help. The submarines have already submerged. Luckily, there was only one aircraft carrier here in harbor - the one that was decommissioned last year. The situation in Honolulu is dire!"

"Get it done. Tensions are rising with Topsail at the moment, we fear the worst."

Two hours later, the fires above were put under control, although the city still burned. Havoc at the Command Center was converted into work, and although the upper levels were blown to bits, the important part was left relatively undamaged. The planes that had taken off at the time of the attack were still in the air - enroute to [name deleted]. The EMP blast had left much of the island paralyzed - but not the military - which had recently undergone an expensive renovation using new technology - which paid off.

02:24, March 4th, 2014
50 km Northwest of Taongi Atoll, Marshall Islands

Daniel Kern checked his radar. His F/A 18E/F Super Hornet along with the fifteen other planes with him were cruising at an altitude of 40,000 feet. They had already found the Hopper, heavily damaged and heading home. They passed on the news, as well as the coordinates for the regrouping point. Off to their left, they spotted a ship. Kern angled his plane in that direction, and, pressing down on a trigger, released his AGM-84 antiship missile. It slammed into the side of the Hampton sending flames cascading into the air. Two other missiles followed, ripping the ship in half. It sank quickly. The planes then angled north, searching the south Pacific for other ships. They soon found another, sinking it in the same way they had the first. Then the looped around, and headed straight for [classified].

"Pacific Command. Daniel Kern speaking. The Marshall Islands are clear."

03:49, March 4th, 2014
Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado

General Charles Randall, current head of NORAD, got word of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Atlanticans. He had ordered the bomb-blast doors of Cheyenne Mountain to be closed, making the mountain fortress almost invincible. Caliwestia was now at hightened alert, with intel coming in that Topsail was planning an attack of some kind in conjunction with their Panama blockade and the Atlantican attacks. He had ordered the Eastern Line defenses to be on alert for any incoming Topsailian attack.

03:54, March 4th, 2014
Eastern Line Defenses

"We've got 12 bombers, incoming! Prepare the AA guns. Sound an air alarm!" Next to him, another officer slammed his fist on a button. A blast echoed around the chamber. A missile lifted into the air, rising quickly, and then heading east across Colorado. 14 others across the state did the same. One by one, the bombers were shot down, each detonating its cargo of armaments high over the plains before reaching Denver. After the missiles, only two remained. They continued steadily towards Denver, making clear their intent. Fighters on the ground were scrambled, making way for air defense. The AA guns fired over and over, hitting one of the bombers. The last remaining B2 seared across the early morning sky, and dropped a massive thermobaric bomb into the heart of the city. The AA guns continued to fire, missing shot after shot. But now the fighters were in the air, and the bomber was shot down. They had prevented the worst of the attack, but parts of downtown Denver were in flames.
//You can't just come in as if there aren't any defenses.// The wail of the air siren woke the city, people streaming into the streets, wondering how their lives had changed so quickly over the course of a single night.

Caliwestia is now at war with both Atlantica and Topsail. We call for allied support.

04:40, March 4, 2014
San Luis Potosi Province, Caliwestia

"This is your president speaking. Put Operation Twilight Thunder into effect."
"Understood."

Silently, as the glimmering morning sun rose in the east, 34 F-22 Raptors and 8 B2 bombers lifted off from Ponciano Arriaga Airport, shooting southeast. They entered Caribbean airspace at 05:24 and continued southwards towards Panama. The unpopulated sea and unclaimed territory beneath them concealed their presence, along with the fact that they were equipped with the best radar-deflecting and evasion technology in the world. At 06:41, after being in the air for nearly two hours at supersonic speeds, they zeroed in on their targets: the Topsailian reinforcements to the Panama canal. The raptors released anti-ship missiles which took down ship after ship, all while staying above enemy fire. The bombers had similar tactics, dropping hundreds of conventional bombs and several GAMs over the enemy fleet. What wasn't sunken was left effectively crippled, shattered by Operation Twilight Thunder.
Several F-22s were shot down, but all of the B2s returned unscathed.

As the sun rose, the country awakened to the reality of war. Industry was turned to creating more ships, more planes, and more tanks. A draft was initiated, and although the populace was unhappy about it, they resolved to destroy the enemy and win the war, whatever the need.

The U.R.S. Shen moved through the seas in advance, following an emergency distress call from the Hampton. From the last communication record, the Hampton had been explicitly attacked - attacked by an AGM-84 Harpoon. From the long-range radar of the U.R.S. Shen, it was confirmed that it had been F/A-18E/F Super Hornets from Caliwestia - they have been the attacker now.

"Fire up the SM-6," Captain El Madrid, Captain of the U.R.S. Shen, commanded. "Make sure you shoot down every piece of shit of the Super Hornets, along with Caliwestia."

Under his command, missiles began to be fired from the Vertical Launch System (VLS): sixteen high-powered guided missiles advancing at Mach 6. The F/A-18 Super Hornets started to recognize the situation - but by then, it was too late. Thirteen of the Sixteen Super Hornets have been intercepted - only three had escaped alive.

"Call for additional fleet support," Captain El Madrid commanded.

"A carrier strike force is on the way from [classified]," Lieutenant Lai reported. "It seems like an array of F-60 Gyrfalcons and F-25A Ghost Birds are also coming for a new attack, either on the Marshall Islands or somewhere else."

"F-60 Gyrfalcons? Good option for an attack," Captain El Madrid commented. "Now we must go ahead and take the superiority upon this damned place!"

Panama Canal

Captain Jones is the captain of the Topsail missile cruiser TEN Leyte Gulf. He awoke at 0600 to his Lieutenant screaming in his ear that there were 30 planes heading strait towards the fleet. He jumped out of bed in only his underwear, and ran strait up to the bridge.

"ALERT THE FLEET!" he yelled to his radio officer, "And tell them to ready their anti-aircraft defenses!"

As the aircraft streaked in, the ships of the fleet launched missiles to destroy them. They destroyed several fighters, but the bombers got through. THey launched missiles at the fleet, but the early missiles were shot down with a brand-new laser defense mechanism. But the missiles kept coming, and in the end 1 cruiser, 5 destroyers, and a frigate were damaged by the missiles with 1 frigate and 2 LCS sunk.

Moscow, Hockesin
After hours of deliberation, the Hockesin Senate emerged from their chambers today, agreeing that the United Republics of Atlantica had broken international law when attacking Hawaii, and must pay the price for their aggression. At 3:32 p.m. today, the Kingdom of Hockesin has formally declared war against Atlantica, and calls it allies Grothbord and Ibsenia into the war. Also, due to the aggressive nature of its members, Hockesin will leave OPEC, and oil will begin flowing to El Fiji Grande.

Personnel in the Siberian Military District has been increase to 180,000, and supplemented by heavy armor and support vehicles. Back home, 35% of the reserves have been mobilized, and thousands of troops arrive in Siberia every day. A series of defensive lines have been formed on the border, with Lake Baikal serving as the command center for all military operations, headed by General Joseph Brewer. The HNA awaits Atlantica's response.

Eastern Siberia

With the arrival of the Grothbordian forces, the total border force now equals 800,000 men, with the heavier Grothbordian troops making up the bulk of the defensive line, while the lighter and faster Hockesin troops were placed at strategic intervals. A few scouting patrols have been spotted near the border, but no real force has yet approached the line, which waits in anticipation for Atlantica's reaction.

Raleigh, Topsail Capital District

Topsail President Andrew Williams meets with his cabinet.

"Gentlemen," he begins, "It seems that Hockesin and Grothbord have entered the war on the Caliwestian side. The original plan was to invade and destroy Caliwestia before they entered the war. But they responded much quicker than expected. With the immanent invasion of Atlantica, we will lose our ally. And sure we can continue to fight with our allies of Dotaria and Hijjma on our side, we will lose a massive edge against the enemy. We need to ensure that our ally will not fall to the Russians. We need to get more nations on our side, we know that SSV Normandy SR-2 will help Atlantica. But we clearly need to send troops to him."

"But how will we send him troops? Caliwestia will certainly have submarines stationed in the Pacific, our ships would be sunk," states the Minister of Defense, Chuck Magel.

"We will have to figure it out," states Williams, "I believe that we must repurpose some of our space fleet. By repurposing the cargo bay of our space shuttles, we can carry a hundred soldiers per ship. And with our ten shuttles, we can carry 1,000 troops per mission. It will be ridiculously expensive, but right now it is the only option besides sending ships all the way to Atlantica thorough the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. I propose we send some soldiers by this route, maybe 10 divisions, and 1 division through space means."
