Governor Banks gets a message on his wrist phone saying:

100 natives attacked Elbror at 0700 today. 3 Colonists dead, 4 wounded. 98 natives dead or wounded. They seem to be using muskets.

Governor Banks raises his voice, "About 100 natives attacked one of my settlement's this morning. They killed 3 colonists and wounded 4. But I think that we need not fear, as they are armed with muskets."

The Trust advisor stands at the door and nods his head. Sir Victor turns. "There is no need. I must take my leave. Good luck to you all. I do hope you make the right choice." Sir Victor walks over to his advisor. The advisor hands him a blue box and they exit the building.

The Commissar returns to his seat, obviously calmed down. "We must speak of trade and resource distribution among our peoples." The Commissar says, "The fact that most of us have our advantages and disadvantages makes this a necessity, if we are all to survive here. Can we all agree that there should be a trading company linking all our nations run by us all?"

Jeremiah Davis tapped the end of his cigar with a practiced hand, the ashes dropping into the small silver basin he had managed to acquire from storage. At some point I must find a real dish. Cigars just weren't the same here. Must be the air. While most of the other residents of Beacon were trying to escape poverty back at home, Jeremiah was recruited by the HNA for other purposes. He was ex-military, specifically a Ranger, and was comfortably living off his pension. But then the advisors from the HNA had come, and somehow convinced him to head the mission, citing numerous bonuses back at home for his grandchildren, namely free schooling. And seeing as how he had only so many years left in his life, Jeremiah had decided he would go. He had expected to be quiet and peaceful here, but then the residents of beacon had voted him Governor, much to his dismay. And so here he sat, across from two emissaries from Beacon, a stiff, polite diplomat, and a more casual, simple representative of the Merchants of Aelia. There was a noticeable difference in the way they dressed, from the clean, proper attire of the diplomat, to the loose attire of the merchant.

"So gentlemen, what can I help you with?" Jeremiah asked casually, taking another drag on his cigar. The diplomat opened first.

"My good Governor, Aelia is a peaceful and prosperous colony, following much in the footsteps of our parent nation, East Ibsenia, and we only wish to have prosperity and good-will shared between our nations. All we ask is that you open your ports to our merchants, and formally enter our peace conference in Uly." The merchant nodded in approval.

"Gentlemen, you see that we are located inland, on a river. The closest port is located 80 miles south, on a small bay where the river meets the ocean. We have had plans for a while to send a group of settlers there, and establish a port village, but resource constraints have prevented that. However, if you would be willing to finance half of the costs, we would be willing to grant you sole export privileges for all Hockesin products that come through the port." The merchant's eyebrows perked up at this, but the diplomat kept his face emotionless, a true testament to his skill. "Also, we would like to attend the meeting at Uly, but unfortunately we have no long range water craft at the moment. If you would be able to transport myself and my guards, that would be greatly appreciated. At the meeting we can discuss the terms of the port with your leader." With that Jeremiah stood up, and beckoned the two men over to his bar, where he poured them glasses of fine Beacon Red, and cut them cigars.

Jem speaks up, "The Mycran trading company already exists. We can send merchants to build guildhouses anywhere you desire. I believe you already have a guildhouse though."

Jem steps out of the convention to consult with his Diplomat over radio.

The diplomat steps back in to Jeremiahs room.

"We agree to all of your terms. You may join us on our cruiser, the meeting is currently underway, but we can make good speed nonetheless. The resources for the port will be delivered in 2 months

Jermiah arrived in Uly on the third day of the meeting. The city itself was a sight to see, well crafted and beautiful. He proceeded to enter, flanked by two Hockesin Rangers, into the main meeting room, located in the central governmental building. As he entered, he noticed an angry looking man of German descent furiously screaming about exterminating a species. Good start.

Sir Victor looks at the building, then turns to his advisor. "Where did you place it?" The advisor looks down at his watch. "Right above the door. They will not notice it." Sir Victor smiles and steps towards his vehicle as Jermiah arrives. "Good enough. Let's go."

Jeremiah finds a seat as far away from the podium as possible, and then clears his mouth loudly, enough to make the angry German stop his rant. Before the German opened his mouth again, Jeremiah began to talk: "So it seems we have a minor problem with a native species," he began to say, stopping to casually light a cigar,before continuing, "Well it seems as if our only option is to attempt communication. Galactic code strictly bans eradicating any form of intelligent life."
